Apologies for the slight delay in posting a new blog entry. I have been unusually busy over the last few days with both events for WAB and the odd act of God.
For example on Thursday night whilst driving home I heard a loud beep and a red light appeared on my car’s dashboard. Once I got home I checked the manual which suggested this was a red light for the oil and was pretty much terminal until I could refill the car with the correct oil, which it very helpfully didn’t specify. Several hours of “Googling” later I worked out the correct oil and on Friday lunchtime, after a few hours working from home, I traipsed off through the streets of Edinburgh looking for somewhere that would sell it. Eventually I found some and filled the car and checked that the light had gone out (it had). So after lunch I decided to try and make it to the office and found myself in a several mile long tailback on Queensferry Road. After 45 minutes I had travelled approximately 2 miles and felt like I was back in London so I gave up. This was particularly frustrating because I was supposed to collect materials for an event on Monday which meant I had to meet up with a colleague on Sunday who kindly bought them to Edinburgh (she lives here too) to ensure I had them in time for the event, which is the University of Abertay’s Green Week incidentally.
So, as you can probably imagine, I was playing catch up all day with my “normal” work, let alone the blogging.
As for the events, they were great, and I’ll post about them separately so they’re not caught up in my personal dramas!
By the way, I try to drive as little as possible and follow these guidelines for minimising my emissions.
