Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) is moving offices during today and tomorrow. We’re not going far, just into the centre of Stirling (Stirling Castle is pictured above) near the train station.
We’re all pretty excited about the change as it means we’ll all be under one roof whereas the 90 odd staff currently reside in separate offices and rooms within offices. So we’ll finally be able to see and communicate face-to-face with many of the people we work with on a daily basis which should bring us a bit closer. It also means we will have to adjust to open plan living, which for some of us will take a bit of getting used to. In my previous roles I have almost always worked in large open plan offices so I’ll be going back to what I’m used to.
KSB have used the services of a furniture reuse company so all our office furniture in the new office is second-hand. Even better, according to the people who’ve seen the office, it’s all in great condition and very smart, so it should vindicate our decision to avoid using virgin materials. I’m working on some new content for the WAB website on the very issue of furniture reuse by businesses and will post here when it goes live. Hopefully our experience will add weight to the argument that reused furniture can be twice as nice at half the price!
If you want to contact Waste Aware Business from tomorrow the new address is:
17-21 Maxwell Place
Nothing should happen to the WAB service as we move. The website will stay live and the directory will still be accessible. Mind you the email server is going down at 3.30 today so it could be an early finish…
